Free museum day!

Every fall, the Smithsonian sponsors an event to get people to visit local museums. This day is a perfect opportunity to visit all the exhibits you've been waiting to see for some time. On this day, there is no entry fee for the participating museums so you can save a few dollars and have a chance to see some interesting exhibits. It usually falls on a Saturday in late September so if you are visiting around these times, make sure to check it out!

Smithsonian Institution

This is a government-run institution that maintains and runs most of the official museums. Since they are partially funded by the government, they have a number of great free collections that are open to the public and free of charge. The most popular in the Smithsonian collection is the National Museum of Natural History. This can be found in the National Mall. It is actually pretty big and very impressive. Quite educational and great for the kids too! Check it out!
